Steven Perian KC, leading Yasin Din, appear in Court of Appeal deportation case
On 21 October 2026, Steven Perian KC, leading Yasin Din, appeared for Mr Muumin, the respondent, in Muumin v Secretary of State for the Home Department before the Court of Appeal (Civil Division).
The Secretary of State appealed against the Upper Tribunal’s decision dismissing her challenge to the First-tier Tribunal’s allowance of Mr Muumin’s appeal against deportation.
The case concerns the proper application of section 117C of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002, including the requirements of Exception 1, the alternative assessment of whether there were very compelling circumstances, and the proper scope of appellate intervention in the First-tier Tribunal’s evaluative findings.
