Oliver Weetch and Laura Hollingbery secure convictions of girlfriend and mother for assisting a convicted murderer
Both the girlfriend and mother of a male previously convicted of murder by using his car as a weapon to run over a group of males in Coventry were accused of assisting him in fleeing after the offence first to Birmingham and then onwards to Fishguard port and out of the jurisdiction on a ferry to Ireland. Using a combination of detailed CCTV, phone and banking evidence, Oliver Weetch – leading Laura Hollingbery – proved that each of the two women had assisted in helping their boyfriend and/or son in making good his escape knowing that he had committed a serious offence and after a two-week trial both defendants were unanimously convicted by the jury.
