Oliver Weetch and Josh Happé conclude successful prosecution of six-handed case of conspiracy to possess firearms and pervert the course of justice.

April 2, 2025

The case involved a complex investigation jointly run between the Serious & Organised Crime Unit at Essex Police and Trident within the Metropolitan Police and involved the discharge of firearms on multiple occasions in the London area as well as offences committed in Essex by the same group.  Advice on the shape and trajectory of the case was given at an early stage of the proceedings and as the case developed.  Four of the six defendants pleaded guilty to acceptable counts at the start of their joint trial.  The final two defendants contested the matter during the course of an eight-week trial which involved substantial amounts of expert evidence relating to the categorisation and comparison of firearms from video footage, gang membership and the interpretation of drill lyrics, and the attribution of social media handles.  At the end of the trial, in which Oliver Weetch led Josh Happé, the defendants were convicted of all counts they faced including conspiring to possess a firearm with the intent to endanger life and conspiring to pervert the course of justice.  The case concluded with sentences being imposed totalling over 41 years in length.
