Oliver Weetch successfully defends client accused of aggravated burglary and knife offences

Oliver Weetch, instructed by Cheryl Fleming at Macauley Smith & Co, defended a client accused of aggravated burglary under section 10 of the Theft Act 1968 and two counts of threatening another with a knife in a private place under section 52 Of the Offensive Weapons Act 2019.
The client was accused of having entered his ex-partner’s address in the middle of the night armed with a kitchen knife, stealing phones and cash inside, then using the knife to cause the immediate risk of grievous bodily harm to both his ex-partner and another male when they confronted him.
Had he been convicted of the offences, the client would have been facing a sentence in excess of 10 years imprisonment.
After a four day trial at Inner London Crown Court, he was unanimously acquitted by the jury of all charges he faced after the jury had spent less than an hour in deliberation.
