‘Dangerous’ man convicted of stranger rape sentenced to Extended Sentence of 15 years. Steven Molloy prosecuting

September 26, 2025

Abdifathi IBRAHIM (25) was convicted by a jury at Bristol Crown Court of raping a vulnerable woman after following her into the hallway of a residential building in September 2024.

Following the Guilty verdict after a five day trial that concluded 11th July 2025, IBRAHIM was sentenced on 26th September 2025.

The Court heard that IBRAHIM, who is originally from Somalia, had also committed a range of other offences in the preceding weeks, including dwelling burglaries, thefts and assaulting an emergency worker.

IBRAHIM had denied raping the woman, who was previously unknown to him, stating that she must have been hallucinating after taking drugs – an account that the jury rejected.

Sentencing IBRAHIM, His Honour Judge Lambert made a finding that the defendant was ‘dangerous’ and sentenced him to a 15 year Extended Sentence of Imprisonment, comprising an 11 year custodial period and a four year extended licence. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
