Barry McElduff successfully prosecutes dangerous sexual offender
Eduardo Cruz received a sentence of 27 years for a string of offences against a girl aged between 10-14 years of age. Cruz had befriended the child’s parents before conducting a grooming campaign against the victim.
Barry McElduff prosecuted this case from start to finish having been initially instructed to advise the police before Mr Cruz was charged with any offences.
Mr Cruz was unanimously convicted of all 12 counts of rape, sexual assault, assault by penetration and inciting a child into sexual activity at a trial before HHJ Norton in Reading Crown Court in February 2020.
The recently concluded sentencing hearing had been delayed due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
