Matilda Robinson-Murphy elected Assistant Secretary of the Criminal Bar Association

Matilda has been elected as the Assistant Secretary of the Criminal Bar Association; she will hold the position until March 2026.
” I am honoured to be elected to the role of Assistant Secretary. Thank you to all who took the time to read my manifesto and vote for me.
Wellbeing at the bar appears to be at an all-time low, many feeling immense pressures to their personal lives through the exigencies of the job and having to reorganise their commitments to fit around last-minute, demanding listing practices. Clearing the backlog of cases appears to be the sole focus of some courts, with little regard to the inevitable consequences of delayed remuneration, an unsustainable workload and dire impact on personal lives.
I am committed to changing the working conditions of this profession, particularly to encourage retention of junior members, and look forward to working with the Executive and Officers of the CBA to achieve such a change”.
