Man jailed for masturbating on London trains – Lily Hines prosecuted for the Crown
James Gathercole, 39, of no fixed abode, exposed himself and masturbated in front of women in two separate incidents on 26 May 2024. The first was on the train from Motspur Park to Wimbledon and the second later the same day on the train from West Sutton towards Blackfriars. He was identified from CCTV and from footage taken by one of the victims.
Gathercole pleaded guilty in the Magistrates Court to two counts of exposure and was sentenced at Inner London Crown Court to two years and eight months imprisonment. He was also made the subject of a 10 year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
