Hampshire PC who lied about being attacked sentenced – Rebecca Austin led Kaj Scarsbrook for the Crown
Nadia Thurley, 29, was found guilty after trial of Perverting the Course of Justice after lying about being repeatedly attacked by a fictitious ex-boyfriend. She was sentenced to an 18 month suspended sentence and ordered to undertake 150 hours of unpaid work and complete 40 days of rehabilitation activity.
Thurley was a probationary officer with Hampshire Police and alleged she had been assaulted 14 times over a seven month period. More than 150 officers investigated her allegations and examined over 800 hours of CCTV footage. After reporting the two final attacks, she refused medical attention and declined to make a statement to police.
Since her conviction, she has been sacked from the Hampshire force by a disciplinary panel.
