Defendant jailed for sharing hundreds of doctored intimate images of women he knew – Jackalyn Chan prosecuted for the Crown
Jackalyn Chan was instructed from the outset by Wessex CPS Crown Court Unit to prosecute a defendant who shared hundreds of doctored intimate images of women he personally knew. The pictures were shared alongside horrific and degrading captions.
Officers in Hampshire first became aware of the website in January 2024 after a woman reported that images of her from her wedding day, which had been doctored to make her appear either nude or wearing lingerie, had been uploaded to the site. More than 100 images of the woman had been shared, and were accompanied by comments containing violent disturbing fantasies about sexually abusing the woman.
Through enquiries, Hampshire police were able to identify the person responsible for uploading the images – 30-year-old Ethan Orchard, who was known to the woman and even made her aware of the images being shared, but did not disclose to her that he was the person responsible.
Orchard also shared doctored images of two other women he knew, and continued to post horrific violent and sexual fantasies on the website about them.
In addition, Orchard encouraged others online on a forum to harass one of the victims, giving out personal details alongside doctored images. This included posting a poll asking if others would rape them.
Orchard was charged with three counts of sharing a photograph of a person in an intimate state for the purpose of sexual gratification, and one count of encouraging the commission of an either way offence and believing it will be committed.
The offending occurred between 2023 to 2024.
On 10th July 2026, Orchard received a total sentence of 40 months’ imprisonment having pleaded guilty on the day of trial to the four counts in relation to three victims. His offending was described as about as serious as the offence can get, maximising distress and sophisticated.
