Chris Stopa
2KBW Chambers is extremely sad to learn of the death of Chris Stopa on 26th March 2025.
Chris was a tenant in Chambers for over 30 years, and had spent 47 years practising at the Bar before his retirement in 2023. He was a specialist in crime, and always in high demand, particularly in acting for clients of some of 2KBW’s most loyal defence solicitors, such as Talbot Walker and Peach Grey. He lived in the New Forest, and was an extremely familiar face in the robing rooms at Portsmouth, Southampton and Bournemouth.
Quite apart from his skills as an advocate and lawyer, he was also a genial and charming man, always supportive to those who were looking for advice and encouragement.
We offer our sincere condolences to Chris’s wife, Her Honour Judge Kerry Maylin, and to all members of Chris’s family.
