Overview
Priya was called to the Bar in 2024. She studied Law with Government and Politics at university before completing the Bar Course with her LLM in Clinical Legal Education.
Prior to commencing pupillage, Priya worked as a Senior Paralegal in the criminal defence team at Hodge Jones & Allen. She managed her own caseload, encompassing serious fraud, serious assaults and a broad range of general crime, whilst also assisting Partners and the Deputy Head of Department with serious, complex and high-profile criminal cases. Her role gave her substantial experience of criminal proceedings and working directly with clients throughout the criminal justice process. Priya was also a member of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
Whilst studying for the Bar Course, Priya worked at the Cabinet Office on the UK Covid-19 Inquiry. This provided her with experience of working on a major public inquiry and an insight into the interaction between government, evidence and the inquiry process.
Alongside this, Priya is the current Co-Chair of Young Legal Aid Lawyers (YLAL), where she advocates on issues affecting junior legal aid lawyers and access to justice. She also runs YLAL’s ‘In Conversation’ series and has written extensively on legal and access to justice issues for YLAL, Amicus and Legal Cheek.
Priya began her pupillage in October 2026 under the supervision of Philip Allman, and is accepting instructions from 5th April 2027.
