Neil Garrod

Call: 2000

Overview

With considerable experience and an approachable manner, Neil specialises in Human Rights and all aspects of Immigration Law. This includes Public Law and European Law. His Immigration work and experience encompasses all areas of Immigration law including, but is not restricted to, cases involving: Leave To Remain, Settlement, EUSS/Withdrawal Agreement, Asylum, Entry Clearance, Bail and Human Rights representation and advice.

Neil regularly appears in both the Upper Tribunal and First-Tier Tribunal. His work includes drafting, which deploys his eye for detail - as indeed does his advocacy. He argues cases persuasively from the outset and can present complex cases and law with clarity.

Neil maintains a strong sense of justice appearing in cases where the rights of the individual are in issue. Work is done conscientiously with a personal and measured approach to each individual client and case. Neil recognises the importance of communication with both lay and professional clients.

He travels extensively in the course of his practice, and there are no geographical restrictions on his availability to represent within this jurisdiction (England and Wales).

Prior to, and during, his career at the Bar Neil has taught/lectured a module on both a university LLB and a MA Law degree. He has also served on the Management Committee of his local Law Centre. He proof-read professional handbooks on Welfare Rights for technical accuracy and was involved in the Citizens Advice Bureaux movement.

Neil has previously been voted for 3 years on to the Bar Council. He is no longer serving, but maintains a close interest particularly with regard to the relationship of the Bar with the European Union.
