Crime

Michael only defends in criminal cases and has represented clients in high-profile cases, most notably in cases such as R v David Justice, a case involving alleged bribery and corruption, which was the first example of a prosecution arising out of a deferred prosecution agreement.

Family

Michael’s main area of practice lies in the public law field, where he regularly acts in care proceedings in all levels of court. He has a particular interest in non-accidental injuries to children, and fact-finding hearings.

• R v David Justice 2019.
  First prosecution arising out of a deferred prosecution agreement, conducted by the SFO. The allegation was that the defendants were involved in an effort to bribe officials from a number of companies world-wide to obtain contracts. • CPS v Orla Sloan 2023

• R v Reece Harkness – Winchester CC
  Allegation of conspiracy to rob in circumstances where the defendant’s brother was stabbed to death during the course of the robbery by the intended victim of the conspiracy. Acquitted.
