Overview

Having completed her undergraduate Law degree in 2020, Jessica worked as a Change Manager at Abri housing association. Jessica commenced the Bar Practice Course at The University of Law alongside a Masters of Law in 2022 and was chosen to participate in the ICC:IBA international moot competition in The Hague. Jessica was called to the Bar by Inner Temple in 2023. Prior to obtaining pupillage, Jessica worked with LPC Law representing clients in various small claims trials.

Jessica commenced Pupillage in October 2024 under the guidance of her pupil supervisor, Rebecca Austin. Jessica will be receiving instructions from April 2025.

Crime

R v T [2025] – Southampton Magistrates Court – Trial
Jessica defended her client charged with driving over the prescribed limit of alcohol. Jessica made representations to the prosecution about lack of evidence resulting in the prosecution offering no evidence.

R v H [2025] – Snaresbrook Crown Court – Appeal against Custody Time Limit
Jessica prosecuted an appeal by the Defence against an extension of custody time limit granted by a District Judge in the Magistrates Court. The Judge found that the Crown had acted with due diligence and expedition. Appeal dismissed.

R v T [2025] – Inner London Crown Court – Committal for Sentence
Jessica prosecuted a Defendant was charged with 5 theft offences, 5 breach of criminal behaviour order offences and an offence of possession of a controlled drug. The defendant was sentenced to 43 months imprisonment.

R v A [2025] – Southwark Crown Court – Appeal against Conviction
Jessica prosecuted an appeal of a Defendant charged with a section 4 Public Order offence. Appeal dismissed.
