Overview
George Patros joined chambers with a unique property background, having initially practised as a surveyor and then as a lawyer in two magic circle firms. He is now an experienced barrister and leading mediator with an impressive success rate, having conducted in excess of 300 mediations with a settlement rate of 99.8%. Whether conducting mediations or representing clients during mediations, this aspect of dispute resolution is at the forefront of his practice. He also has expertise in Property, Landlord and Tenant, Trusts (including TOLATA disputes) & Building disputes.
George has appeared in the High Court, County Court and the First-Tier Tribunal on a range of Property matters for a diverse set of clients, ranging from individuals to PLCs, whilst also advising in conferences, drafting documents and having particular expertise in representing parties at mediations.
He has developed a reputation as being a highly skilled and experienced advocate and negotiator. He is both compassionate and where necessary, assertive with the ability to think laterally when conducting mediations or representing parties in tribunals or other dispute resolution forums. Where litigation is inevitable, he recognises the need to pursue clients’ cases with both vigour and commercialism. Acknowledging the distraction that litigation can cause to clients’ core businesses, he is used to working in accordance with both time and budget constraints. He is able to provide a commercial and strategic approach commensurate with the size and complexity of the matter and, is able to consider matters laterally from both a Surveyor’s & Barrister’s perspective, being invaluable in his areas of practice.
George has considerable experience in Direct Public Access work and is authorised to accept instructions from members of the public and businesses directly. He is able to provide written advice, advise in conference and provide representation in court or at a settlement conference or mediation.

His background as a surveyor and then as a barrister is invaluable when representing parties at a mediation and providing both commercial and legal advice.
Landlord and Tenant - Commercial
Acting for a diverse range of clients from individuals to PLCs on various issues including forfeiture, nuisance, trespass, breach of covenant, terminal dilapidations, rent review, unopposed lease renewals pursuant to Part II of the LTA 1954.
Landlord and Tenant - Residential
Appearing in various courts/tribunals including having undertaken a three-day hearing in the First-Tier Tribunal on behalf of a tenant seeking a determination that a repair of the windows was an obligation of the landlord. Particular expertise in representing both landlords and tenants in possession claims. He also undertakes Party Wall Act 1996 disputes, disrepair, nuisance, service charge disputes and claims relating to the composition of long leases and applications made pursuant to the Landlord & Tenant Acts 1985 and 1987.
Real Property
Co-ownership disputes involving constructive trusts and Trusts of Land and appointment of Trustees Act 1996 (TOLATA).
Additionally, claims involving trespass, adverse possession, boundary disputes, easements and injunctive relief. He also advises and acts in claims involving rectification of title at HM Land Registry under Schedule 4 of the Land Registration Act 2002 and also cases involving fraudulent title claims.
