Yasmin Qureshi MP

Overview

Yasmin Qureshi was called to the Bar in 1985 and practised until elected as a Member of Parliament in 2010.

Yasmin practised Criminal and Civil Law and served as a prosecutor for the CPS for over fourteen years.

She served in the UN Mission to Kosovo, supporting the rebuilding of the Ministry of Justice as the head of the criminal legal unit and later the Director of the Department of Judicial Administration.

In 2010 she was elected as MP for Bolton Southeast. In 2016 she was appointed Shadow Justice Minister, a position she held for four years with responsibility for overseeing the governments agenda on Courts, Prisons, and the Probation Service. In 2020 she was appointed Shadow International Development Minister and in 2022, Shadow Women and Equalities Minister.
