Chambers invites applications for criminal pupillages to commence in 2020 and 2021. There will be one pupillage commencing in October 2020 and up to two pupillages commencing in October 2021. The pupillage awards will be £24,000.

About Pupillage

2 King’s Bench Walk is a highly respected set of chambers which specialises in criminal, civil and family law throughout London, the south of England and the Midlands. The vacancies in 2020 and 2021 are for pupillages specialising in criminal law, although there may be an opportunity for pupils to gain experience in other areas of law. We regard our pupils as future tenants and in the last five years have offered tenancy to eight candidates upon the successful completion of their pupillage.

Chambers has a reputation for excellence in all areas of criminal law and our members are frequently instructed to prosecute and defend in the most high-profile and serious cases throughout the country. Therefore, although based in London, pupils will undertake a significant amount of travel during pupillage.

In the first six months, pupils will spend time with their supervisors in court, as well as receiving training in written work and case preparation. In the second six months, pupils will appear in court on a daily basis as well as undertaking advisory work and drafting.

By offering exposure to the most serious criminal cases, coupled with the training and guidance provided by excellent pupil supervisors, pupillage with us is an ideal footing for those committed to pursuing a career at the criminal bar.

Known for our friendly and approachable manner, we look for the same in our pupils. The successful applicants will be well-rounded individuals with proven academic ability. They will also demonstrate a strong commitment to 2 King’s Bench Walk.

Pupillage at 2 King’s Bench Walk is an enormously rewarding experience and is designed to be the foundation for producing exceptional barristers.
